Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo has denied report that he endorsed an Igbo Presidency after the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
KanyiDaily recalls that Obasanjo was alleged to have declared his support for Igbo presidency on Thursday when a presidential aspirant, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, paid him a visit in his house in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The former president was alleged to have said that it was time for reconciliation in Nigeria, adding that a president from the Southeast region can bring a lot to the table if elected.
However, in a statement on Saturday, March 12, the former president’s Media Aide, Kehinde Akinyemi accused Ohabunwa of putting words in Obasanjo’s mouth hence the misrepresentation in the media.
He said “He came here and the former President received him as a gentleman and in the spirit of his 85th birthday celebrations only for him to go and put words into his mouth. Baba is not that sort of man and if that is the way he wants to fulfil his ambition that is a wrong way.”
KanyiDaily recalls Olusegun Obasanjo had recently said that many politicians aspiring for the presidency in 2023 should be in jail if the country’s anti-graft agencies had done their jobs properly.
