Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has denied approving a post on social media condemning the killing of Deborah Samuel, a Christian female student at Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto State.
KanyiDaily recalls that the former vice president had condemned the mob action against Deborah who was beaten and burnt to death by her Muslim colleagues over alleged blasphemous remarks considered to be an insult to Prophet Mohammed.
He wrote, “There can not be a justification for such gruesome murder. Deborah Yakubu was murdered, and all those behind her death must be brought to justice. My condolences to her family and friends.”
Less than an hour later, Atiku deleted both posts after northern Islamic fanatics warned him to stay away from condemning Deborah’s murder, threatening to vote against him at the presidential polls.
The vice former president, who is seeking the 2023 presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) later returned to deny making the post himself.
In a post shared on his Hausa Facebook page, Atiku said the viral posts earlier on his pages were posted without his consent, stating that any post that does not come with AA is not from him and should be ignored.
“This evening I received information that a post was made that doesn’t agree with my orders. I use this to announce that any post without A. A. is not from me. May God protect us,” Atiku wrote in Hausa language.
KanyiDaily had also reported how a middle-aged man was tortured and burnt to death by angry youths for allegedly insulting Prophet Muhammad in Bauchi State.
