2023: Tinubu’s Running Mate, Shettima Is One Of Nigeria’s Finest – Atiku Bagudu

Kebbi State Governor, Atiku Bagudu has hailed the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, over his choice of running mate for the 2023 general election.

APC Proud Of Tinubu and Shettima Ticket – Bagudu

KanyiDaily recalls that Tinubu had picked his fellow Muslim, Kashim Shettima, a former Borno State Governor, as his running mate for the 2023 election.

Although the development has elicited mixed reactions among Nigerians, Bagudu said the APC governors are pleased and round of Tinubu’s Muslim-Muslim ticket.

The governor, who spoke on Monday after a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, Katsina, said the Tinubu-Shettima ticket is the “best team” for the presidency.

Bagudu added that “Kashim Shettima is one of Nigeria’s finest and we believe he brings a lot of value to the presidential ticket.

“So, we are quite pleased and we pray that his formidable capacity will complement the well-known capacity of our presidential flagbearer, and Nigerians will be convinced this is about the best team that the parties in this 2022 primary season has produced.

“Governors are very proud. We have congratulated Mr. President that under his leadership, one of the most transparent primaries took place which saw the emergence of asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as our presidential flagbearer.

“Governors are very very pleased. We are very very proud. We are equally very happy that the vice-presidential candidate is no less a person than Kashim Shettima and we believe that they will give traction to the campaign and complement all the achievements of the last seven years under President Muhammadu Buhari.

“We believe the track record of the achievements overwhelmed any unmet expectation. It’s life that no matter how hard you work, some things may not be accomplished as you wish.

“For example, we fought in the last seven years, two world recessions, COVID pandemic and now we’re dealing with the Russia-Ukraine war that is affecting every part of the globe.

“Yet, Nigeria has remained resilient because of the policies that have been pursued by President Muhammadu Buhari and embraced by state governors — both those of APC and non-APC states.”

Meanwhile, Joe Igbokwe said Bola Tinubu should be considered a Christian because of his wife, Oluremi, who is a pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
