EFCC Arrests Nine Suspected ‘Yahoo Boys’ Who ‘Always Impersonate Foreigners’, Recovers 2 Cars, 26 Phones, Six Laptops

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says operatives of its Enugu zonal command on Friday, September 16, arrested nine suspected internet fraudsters, popularly known as “Yahoo Boys.”

Nine ‘Yahoo Boys’ Arrested By EFCC In Enugu

EFCC Spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday.

According to him, the suspects arrested at the Transekulu and Monarch areas of Enugu,  Enugu State.

He gave the names of the suspects as Chukwu Chidiebube Emmanuel, Ebuka Owoh Bonaventure, Stephen Obinna Chukwu, Victor Chimere Opuniju, Justice Ifeanyichukwu Anunobi, Ugwumba Eloka Charles, Okeke ifeanyi Victor, Nduka Ononiwu and Obasi Chisom.

“Investigations showed that the suspects always impersonate foreigners to defraud their victims,” he said.

“Items recovered from them  include two vehicles, 26 mobile phones and six laptops.

“The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.”

Meanwhile, Kanyi Daily had reported that the EFCC arrested two owners of “Yahoo Schools” and seven of their students in Benin City, Edo State. 

The “Yahoo School” is known as Internet Fraud Coaching Centre, also known in local parlance as (HK).

Uwujaren said the two school owners were arrested on Tuesday, September 13 by operatives of the Benin zonal command of the EFCC with seven of their “students” at their centres following actionable intelligence worked upon by the commission.
