Two ‘Yahoo Schools’ Owners, ‘Students’ Arrested By EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it has arrested two owners of “Yahoo Schools” – Internet Fraud Coaching Centre, known in local parlance as (HK) in Benin City, Edo State.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Spokesman of the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren.

Uwujaren said the two school owners were arrested on Tuesday, September 13 by operatives of the Benin zonal command of the EFCC with seven of their “students” at their centres following actionable intelligence worked upon by the commission.

He gave the names of yahoo school owners as Osagie Ogiemwonyi and Onukwugho Favour.

According to the EFCC image maker, the names of the students are Destiny Ohikwugbe, Chata Okoro, Ighodaro Omede,  Ehigie Idemudia, Lawrence Daniel, Raymond Ogiemwonyi Oghosa and Henry Philip.

Items recovered from the suspects include a Mercedes Benz GLK, Lexus 350,  phones and laptops,” Uwujaren said.

The suspects will be arraigned in court as soon as investigations are concluded.”

In other news, Kanyi Daily had reported that operatives of the Uyo zonal office of the EFCC stormed a “Yahoo Academy” in Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State and arrested 23 suspected internet fraudsters.

The “YAHOO ACADEMY” was allegedly used solely for the training of youngsters in various aspects of cyber criminality.
