EFCC Arraigns Man For Alleged N30m Fraud In Lagos

One Ofozie Chris Onyedikachi has been arraigned by the Lagos zonal command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, before Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos on a one-count charge bordering on stealing to the tune of Thirty Million Naira (N30m).

EFCC Arraigns Man For Alleged N30m Fraud In Lagos

Onyekachi was arraigned on October 17, 2022, according to a statement issued by the Spokesman of the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren.

Uwujaren said offence is contrary to Section 285(9) (b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.

The one-count charge reads: “Ofozie Chris Onyedikachi between 28th February 2022 and 5th March 2022 in Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, dishonestly converted to your use the gross sum of N30,000,000 (Thirty Million Naira), property of Oyewole Titilayo Hannah.”

He pleaded “not guilty” to the charge preferred against him.

The prosecuting counsel, G.K. Latona, prayed to the court for a short adjournment to enable the prosecution to prove its case against the defendant.

“We also pray the court that the defendant is remanded at the Correctional Centre,” he added.

The defence counsel, Lekan Egberongbe, who held the brief of U.C. Jonathan, informed the court of the application for the bail of the defendant.

“It has been filed but has not been brought before your lordship,” he said.

Justice Dada adjourned the case till November 8, 2022, and ordered the remand of the defendant at a Correctional Centre.

Meanwhile, Kanyi Daily reported a man has been arraigned for allegedly defrauding 20 policemen of N4.08m In Bauchi state.
