How Edo Police Gunned Down Robbery Suspect, Arrested One In Gun Duel

An armed robbery suspect has been gunned down by operatives of the Edo State Police Command in a gun battle while another was arrested with arms.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the command’s Spokesman, SP Chidi Nwabuzor.

Nwabuzor said the operation was carried out with men of the Edo State Security Network.

The statement read in part, “Police operatives attached to Ugbor Division, GRA, Benin City, Edo State, and the Edo State Security Network personnel, led by the Divisional Police Officer, on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, around 8 pm, successfully engaged a robbery gang, arrested one, neutralised one, recovered one cut-to-size gun and two cartridges.

“The arrested suspect, Ahmed Ibrahim, aged 19, is currently in police custody and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, while the body of the deceased armed robber, whose name is yet unknown, has been deposited in the Stella Obasanjo Mortuary in the state.”

Meanwhile, Kanyi Daily reported that the Ogun State Police has arrested a couple, Taiwo Olutufese Ajalorun and Salawa Oyenusi Ajalorun for kidnapping, killing, and dismembering a 26-year-old mother of two, Oyindamola Adeyemi.

The couple was arrested along with six others, Lukman Oladele, Kayode Ibrahim, Bello Akeem, Alebiosu Adebayo, Fatai Rasheed, and Fatai Jimoh.
