It was gathered that the third-year student was allegedly stabbed to death by her boyfriend on Thursday in her student residence in Ekhaya Junction, Pretoria.
Ntokozo’s friends notified security at her student accommodation after not being able to reach her phone. She was found dead with multiple stab wounds on her upper body after the security personnel went to inspect her apartment.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) believed that Ntokozo’s boyfriend was the last person she was seen with before she died on Thursday.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Dimakatso Sello said the deceased was drinking with friends including her boyfriend on Wednesday, and the friends left the two together that night.
“The following morning, the victim was found dead with stab wounds on the neck. The ex-boyfriend has been taken in for questioning by the police. Investigations continue,” said Sello.
Meanwhile, the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) conveyed its condolences to the student’s family and friends while condemning gender-based violence.
“The university remains shocked and regretful that women, locally and the world over, continue to look over their shoulders even among fellow students and community.
“We condemn acts of violence on and off campus. Violence against women and children has reached unprecedented proportions that should be a great concern to everyone,” the university said.
