Burna Boy has expressed shock over AKA’s death.

Nigerian singer, Burna Boy has taken to social media to mourn the tragic death of South African rapper, AKA, who was his former friend.

KanyiDaily recalls that Burna Boy and AKA fell out for unknown reasons during the 2019 xenophobic attacks on Nigerians and other Africans in South Africa.

On February 10, 2023, AKA was shot dead outside the Wish Restaurant in Durban along with one of his best friends and former manager, Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane.

Reacting on his Instagram stories, Burna Boy shared an unreleased track in which he sang about the tragic death of AKA, recounting how he advised the rapper to purchase a gun, but the deceased called him “wild” for owning one.

The singer expressed shock over the demise of the rapper, confessing that despite their differences in the past, he never wished death for AKA.

Burna Boy further shared that he hopes the authorities apprehends those who killed AKA even as he hopes he rests in peace albeit that they didn’t share a cordial relationship before his death.

“WTF is all of that about? I just heard he died, seen that video at that restaurant. Took me out of a positive mood/ Took me back to that day when you saw my gun and you said I was wild/ Then I told you you should have one too,” he sang.

“But I didn’t want you dead, it was like that with me and you, have one too/ Cuz it weren’t like niggaz wasn’t dying but I thought you knew/ And I ain’t really f**k with you/

“Wicked! I hope they catch whoever did you wicked/ I hope you rest in peace, even though we ain’t kick it/ At the end of the day we some grown ass ni**az.”

Meanwhile, AKA’s family has announced that he will be laid to rest in a private funeral on Saturday, February 18 and his memorial service will take place on Friday, February 17 at the Sandton Convention Centre at 3 pm.
