First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu Hails Super Falcons, Says ‘We Gave England Run For Their Money’

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has commended the Super Falcons despite the painful defeat of the team to England in a penalty shoot-out in the Round of 16 game on Monday in Brisbane.

England beat Nigeria 4-2 on penalties on Monday to reach the quarter-finals of the Women’s World Cup after their last-16 tie finished 0-0 at the end of extra time.

Oluremi Tinubu said the Falcons gave England’s Lionesses a run for their money.

According to her, the match was not easy for England noting that Nigeria played well.

She said, “I want to say that they played very well and we are proud of them. We gave England a run for their money and so we will be waiting to receive them.

“The match wasn’t easy for England. It was like a bonus to them and they really played fine soccer.”

Meanwhile, Kanyi Daily reported that President Bola Tinubu has equally praised the Super Falcons’ effort despite their painful defeat to England.

The president said the team’s brilliant effort did not go unnoticed despite the final outcome.

According to him, the Falcons made Nigeria proud on the global stage.

Similarly, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) also hailed the Super Falcons for their effort despite the painful defeat of the team to England.
