According to Punch, a source confirmed that Beatrice, who had been serving a five-year sentence, returned to Nigeria on Tuesday. She is reportedly now in Abuja.
In her hometown of Mpu in Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State, her release has sparked celebrations, with family and community members expressing their joy.
Chief Alex Ogbonnia, the former National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, also shared his happiness over Beatrice’s return.
He praised Senator Ekweremadu for his dedication to public service, particularly in Enugu West and the broader Enugu State.
“I want to thank God for His grace upon Senator Ike Ekweremadu and his wife,” Ogbonnia said.
“It’s jubilation galore across Enugu State because they used their opportunities to touch lives, showcasing the quality they possess.
He added, “The husband, in particular, represented the people of Enugu West immeasurably and impacted Enugu State as a whole.
“We pray that in no distant time, he will return to Nigeria to continue his good work.”
KanyiDaily recalls that in 2022, Ike Ekweremadu and wife Beatrice were arrested by the UK police in London for allegedly trafficking a homeless boy from Lagos into the UK to harvest his organs for their ailing daughter.
