Bayelsa Governor, Douye Diri Denies Being Responsible For Nengi Hampson’s Pregnancy

Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has denied rumors that he is responsible for the pregnancy of Big Brother Naija reality star, Nengi Rebecca Hampson.

Speculation began circulating online after reports suggested that Nengi recently welcomed a child with a married state governor who already has four wives.

Many social media users pointed fingers at Governor Douye Diri because Nengi, who hails from Bayelsa, was appointed as the Senior Special Assistant on Girl Child Development by Diri shortly after her participation in the BBNaija reality show.

Responding to the allegations, the governor expressed shock and disappointment, especially since the claims surfaced on the same day his administration was marking its fifth anniversary.

Diri’s Director of New Media, Dr. Kola Oredipe, dismissed the report in a post on social media, stating that the governor has no personal relationship with Nengi.

Oredipe described the claims as a distraction and argued that incidents like this highlight the need for stronger regulations on social media.

“It is regrettable that purveyors of fake news are not happy with the towering political profile of the governor.

“This is a distraction and some of us are very justified in the many reasons offered to regulate the use of the various social media.

“Sadly, while we were inaugurating a brand new road in Yenagoa, social media e-rats were spreading falsehoods about the governor.

“Governor Diri is a man of honour and dignity,” Oredipe concluded.

KanyiDaily recalls that Nengi Hampson revealed why she refused to get romantic with her colleague, Ozoemena Chukwu, during their time in the BBNaija house.
