Jude Okoye, the older brother and former manager of the popular music duo P-Square, has been released after spending more than two months in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
His release sparked reactions online, especially from his brother, Paul Okoye (aka Rudeboy), who took to Instagram to celebrate the news.
In a short message, Paul wrote: “Jude is finally out after 2months + .. all their efforts to frustrate his bail has finally collapsed. Welcome home brother @judeengees. And happy birthday.”
Paul Okoye also posted a clip showing Jude being warmly embraced by his wife, Ifeoma, after his release.
The tone of his message, however, seemed to carry some tension—possibly directed at their his brother, Peter Okoye.
Jude’s arrest followed a petition reportedly filed by Peter.
The EFCC later arraigned Jude in court, accusing him of money laundering involving N1.38 billion, $1 million, and £34,537.59.
The EFCC filed seven counts charges against him and his company, Northside Music Limited, but Jude has denied any wrongdoing.
Although he was granted bail on March 6, he remained in custody until now because the bail conditions had not yet been met.
