Nigeria Police Force (NPF) says it will punish officers caught on video receiving money from a group of Chinese nationals — a scene that has caused widespread outrage online.

The viral video shows several Chinese individuals handing out naira notes to uniformed and armed police officers standing in a line.

The exchange appeared to be organized, and the video quickly drew backlash, with many Nigerians criticizing the Force and demanding reform.

Reacting to the incident, police spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi called the officers’ behavior unacceptable, saying it goes against the core values and ethics of the Nigeria Police.

He stressed that such actions damage public trust and are far from the professionalism the Force claims to uphold.

Adejobi confirmed that the officers involved have been identified and are now facing disciplinary action, but he did not reveal the exact punishment they may receive.

The Nigeria Police Force has taken cognisance of a disturbing video making rounds in the media space, showing police officers receiving money from a Chinese national.

“The Force has strongly condemned the conduct exhibited by the police officers in the video, describing it as unprofessional and unethical.

“The actions of the officers do not represent the established ethics, standards, and core values of the Nigeria Police Force.

“The officers captured in the video have been identified and subjected to disciplinary proceedings,” the statement reads.

He also issued a warning to individuals and organizations that use police services like escorts and guards, urging them to avoid engaging officers in activities that could tarnish the image of the Force.

The Nigeria Police Force hereby cautions individuals and organisations privileged to the services of police personnel, particularly as escorts and guards or other specialised services, to desist from any act capable of degrading the integrity of its officers and bringing the Force to disrepute,” Adejobi warned.
