A police officer in Ekiti State has been arrested after allegedly stabbing a man during a confrontation at his home in Ise-Ekiti.
The victim’s daughter posted several emotional videos online, demanding justice.
She explained that the incident began after her younger brother had a disagreement with a female classmate, who is reportedly dating the officer involved.
According to her, the classmate called her boyfriend to intervene.
He allegedly showed up at their home with two other police officers, claiming they were there to arrest her brother. However, the brother wasn’t home—only his older sibling was present.
She said the officers then tried to arrest the older brother, who questioned why he was being taken to the station.
Things escalated, and one of the officers allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed their father, who was trying to intervene.
Although the father managed to block the stab with his hand, he still suffered a serious injury.
A video from the hospital showed the man in pain, with his daughter explaining that the officer had a history of violent behavior in the community.
She expressed frustration that the officer wasn’t immediately arrested because of his position as a personal orderly to a local chairman.
“They are doing absolutely nothing because they said he is a police officer. They don’t just arrest a police officer like that. But if it’s a normal person like me that did that, by now I’ll be in jail,” she said.
She called on President Bola Tinubu and the state’s Commissioner of Police to step in and ensure justice is served.
“Please, Mr. President. Please, Commissioner of Police. Every effort, at this point, we need your help. They should do something about this because this cannot keep happening. Nigeria is failing us for real,” she lamented.
In response, the police command’s spokesperson, SP Abutu, confirmed that the officer has been arrested and is under investigation.
He said the Commissioner of Police, Joseph Eribo, had directed the Deputy Commissioner in charge of Criminal Investigations to take over the case and ensure a thorough probe.
He assured the public that justice will be served and urged the victim’s family and the public to remain calm as the investigation continues.
’The Ekiti State Police Command has noticed a video circulating on the social media where a young girl (name unknown) was complaining that his father was stabbed on his palm by a Policeman serving in Ise-Ekiti due to an argument that ensued between her brother and the Policeman’s girlfriend.
The Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, CP JOSEPH ERIBO, upon noticing the complaint, directed the DC CID to take over the case and ensure a thorough investigation is conducted.
Meanwhile, the officer in question has been taken into custody for investigation and other necessary actions.
The Command is calling on everyone especially the family members of the victim to be calm, as nothing short of justice will be delivered in this case as soon as possible.”
