KanyiDaily recalls that Chris Brown was charged with one count of causing grievous bodily harm over an alleged attack that happened at a nightclub in central London on February 19, 2023.
The 36-year-old singer appeared in a London court on Friday, June 20, 2025, wearing a dark suit and glasses.
Standing in the dock, he replied, “Not guilty, ma’am,” when asked to enter his plea on a charge of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent.
Chris Brown is accused of attacking a man during a night out at a club in Hanover Square, where the victim was reportedly hit with a bottle, chased, and then punched and kicked.
The incident allegedly happened while Brown was on tour in the UK.
A trial lasting five to seven days has been scheduled to begin on October 26, 2026.
Brown had been arrested in Manchester in May 2025 and spent nearly a week in custody at a luxury hotel before being released on bail.
As part of his £5 million bail agreement, the singer must return for court proceedings or risk losing the full amount.
He has also been ordered to stay at a court-approved address, avoid the nightclub where the incident allegedly occurred, and have no contact with the alleged victim, Abraham Diah.
Brown must also surrender his passport when not traveling.
Despite the legal situation, Chris Brown has been allowed to continue his international tour, which began on June 8 in Amsterdam.
He’s currently on the UK leg of the tour and is scheduled to perform in London on Saturday, with further shows in France, Portugal, and the U.S. before wrapping up in Memphis in October.
Brown appeared in court alongside his co-defendant, Omololu Akinlolu, a U.S. citizen who is facing the same charges. Akinlolu also pleaded not guilty to attempting to cause grievous bodily harm.
Both men are additionally charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm. They are expected to enter pleas for that charge on July 11.
Brown also faces a separate charge for allegedly carrying an offensive weapon, a bottle, in public.
KanyiDaily recalls that Chris Brown recently filed a $500 million lawsuit against a film studio, Warner Bros, over a documentary released last year, which included accusations of sexual assault.
