Kaduna State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 13 suspects following the killing of a naval officer in the Kawo area.

The officer, Lt. Commodore M. Buba, lost his life early Sunday morning after being attacked by a suspected phone thief.

DSP Mansir Hassan, spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command, told Channels Television that the incident happened around 5:20 a.m. near the Kawo flyover.

The late officer, a senior student at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College in Jaji, was reportedly trying to fix a flat tyre when he was approached by an unknown man.

The attacker demanded his mobile phone, but Lt. Commodore Buba refused, and the man stabbed him in the chest with a knife.

According to the police, bystanders quickly intervened, caught the suspect, and beat him to death on the spot.

The injured officer was rushed to Manaal Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Following the incident, the police carried out a raid in the Kawo area and arrested 13 suspects.

Officers also recovered knives and other weapons during the operation.
