Suspected Fulani Herdsmen Kill Over 10 People In Enugu

Over 10 people have been killed in a brutal attack by suspected Fulani herdsmen in the Aguamede area of Eha-Amufu, located in Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Local sources say the attackers were dropped off by a helicopter that was seen hovering around the area earlier in the day.

The violence reportedly began around 4:30 p.m on Sunday evening, while many residents were still in church.

The attackers stormed Ikpakpara and Aguamede communities, killing residents in their homes using machetes.

“They did not even announce their operation with any gunshot. They just came in and started using machetes to butcher people and had killed more than 10 people in their homes, before anybody knew what was happening,” a resident told Vanguard.

As of Monday, several people were still missing, and about 10 bodies had been recovered, many showing deep machete wounds to the head and body.

Efforts to reach Enugu State Police spokesperson Daniel Ndukwe for comment were unsuccessful, as calls and messages went unanswered.

Similarly, the chairman of Isi-Uzo Local Government, Obiora Obeagu, could not be reached for a response to the attack.

KanyiDaily recalls that a similar attack occurred in Benue State where over 200 people were killed by the same suspected herdsmen.
