Nwifuru Suspends 25 Commissioners, 38 Aides For Missing Ebonyi Government Function

Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has suspended 85 government officials for not showing up at a key state event.

Those affected include 25 commissioners, 14 senior special assistants, 24 special assistants, and 22 permanent secretaries.

A statement issued on Monday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Monday Uzor, said all the suspended officials will be placed on a “one-month working suspension without salary”.

Governor Nwifuru also directed that none of the suspended officials should sign or approve any government documents during this period.

Commissioners affected by the suspension have been asked to hand over their duties to the permanent secretaries in their ministries.

According to Uzor, the governor’s action is part of efforts to restore discipline and seriousness within the state government.
