Ifesinachi, the only son of the Anambra State Women Leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Esther Chinyere Onyekesi (popularly called Adaejiejemba) was abducted Saturday night at his residence in Okpuno, a suburb near the state capital, Awka.
According to reports from Zagozola and corroborating eyewitness accounts, the incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. when heavily armed men stormed Martin’s residence in Ezinifite Village. The assailants, who arrived in an ash-coloured Lexus SUV, forcibly entered the compound, shot him in the leg, and subsequently abducted him in his own navy blue Toyota Corolla.

Security agencies in the state have yet to issue an official statement on the incident. It remains unclear whether a ransom was demanded or if the attack was politically motivated.

While no suspects have been identified, many in political circles are describing the killing as an assassination, citing the victim’s mother’s position in the political party and the timing of the attack.
With the Anambra gubernatorial election drawing near, tensions have been rising between rival political parties and within factions of the various parties.
