Vice President Kashim Shettima and President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, have arrived in London to receive the remains of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died on Sunday.

The two top government officials are leading a Nigerian delegation sent to bring Buhari’s body back home for burial in Daura, Katsina State.
They left for the UK early Monday, following President Tinubu’s directive to oversee the return of the late leader.
Upon arrival, the delegation was received by Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, and other dignitaries.
KanyiDaily had reported that Buhari passed away in London around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday after battling a long illness.
Although details of the illness haven’t been made public, his former spokesperson, Garba Shehu, had recently said the situation wasn’t as serious as people thought.
In a recent interview, Shehu revealed that Buhari was recovering and looked healthier than he did before taking office.
“Each day, he gets better, but until it’s all over, you can’t say it is over. He looked much better after leaving the office than before he became president. He is 82, he eats healthy, and exercises regularly, he said.
Following his death, President Tinubu ordered flags to be flown at half-staff and expressed heartfelt condolences to Buhari’s family.
Muhammadu Buhari, who hailed from Daura in Katsina State, had a long history in Nigerian leadership.
He once ruled the country as a military head of state between January 1984 and August 1985 before returning as a civilian president years later.
