Dr. Olanrewaju Tejuoso, the pro-Chancellor of the University of Abuja, has criticized the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike for slashing the institution’s land mass from 11,000 hectares to 4,000.

Wike Took 11,000 Hectares From UniAbuja Land, Only 4,000 Left Because Of Mountain - Chancellor Tejuoso

During an interview with Arise TV, Tejuoso said that half of the land left by Wike is mostly mountainous and not suitable for development.

According to him, although the university was originally allocated 11,000 hectares of land, that size was cut down to just 4,000 hectares by the minister.

Tejuoso explained that only about 2,000 hectares of the remaining land is actually usable, as the rest is made up of rocky hills.

He also revealed that the Nigerian Cancer Research Centre had shown interest in working with the university to set up a research facility, but the land situation could be a major setback.

Tejuoso said, “Even the 4,000 hectares, 2,000 out of it is a mountain. When you fly out of the airport, the mountain you see is in the university.

“Looking at what has been proposed, we only have 2,000 hectares, because we have a mountain of 2,000. Maybe minister Wike should come and take over the mountain and develop it….”
