The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has dismissed rumors of a tribal clash after the deadly fight at Balogun Market.

Business activities at the Lagos Island market were disrupted on Wednesday after a fight between two traders escalated, resulting in one death.
Earlier reports suggested the violence was linked to ethnic tensions, but the police clarified that it was simply a brawl among miscreants.
The incident happened around 11 a.m. and caused panic across the market with many traders closing their shops and running to safety as the fight spread.
Eyewitnesses confirmed that only one person died in the incident, contrary to claims that the fight was between rival ethnic groups.
In a statement, the Lagos State Police Command explained that the violence began when a trader, Ebuka Adindu from Abia State, stabbed another trader, Sodiq Ibrahim from Kogi State, during the fight.
After the attack, Adindu reportedly stabbed himself in the shoulder and collapsed. He is currently in the hospital under police watch.
Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin stressed that no bystander was harmed and no property was destroyed in the chaos.
He added that investigations are ongoing and that Adindu will face prosecution once he is discharged from the hospital.
Meanwhile, Akwa Ibom State Police Command has launched an investigation into the killing of 45-year-old Udeme Uko, who was found dead while sleeping with his family inside a church in Ukanafun Local Government Area.
