“Stop Putting False Words In My Mouth” – Nasir El-Rufai Warns ADC Vanguard

Former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has warned the ADC Vanguard, a support group linked to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), to stop spreading false statements in his name.

The group had earlier shared a now-deleted post on social media in which it claimed El-Rufai called President Bola Tinubu’s government “Nigeria’s most corrupt and dishonest administration,” accusing it of looting and favouritism across all sectors.

“Tinubu’s administration is Nigeria’s most corrupt, dishonest government. It has perfected the art of looting with arrogance and lying with confidence.

“Every sector, from the economy to security, has been tainted by fraud, kickbacks and favouritism,” ADC Vanguard had quoted el-Rufai as saying.

Reacting on Thursday via his X page, Nasir El-Rufai distanced himself from the remarks, stressing that he never made such comments.

He wrote, “Dear ADC Vanguard, please stop fabricating statements and attributing them to me. I have my own social media accounts where I can share my views and opinions.

“I am going to disown the statements you created and attributed, not because I necessarily disagree with the message, but because I never made them. That is not the honest way to represent our party or gain traction. Please stop it forthwith.”

Following his response, ADC Vanguard issued a public apology, admitting fault.

“Dear Mallam el-Rufai, we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused. It was never our intention to misrepresent or attribute statements to you.

“We respect your voice and your platforms as the proper channels for your views,” the group said in a post.

They assured that moving forward, only verified and authentic sources would be used in their communications, while thanking El-Rufai for addressing the matter respectfully.

KanyiDaily recalls that the Social Democratic Party (SDP) recently expelled Nasir El-Rufai, and barred him from having any involvement with the party for the next 30 years.
