Kabiru Turaki, chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said that former President Goodluck Jonathan has pledged to remain actively involved in the party.

Turaki made the remarks on Tuesday after a private meeting with Jonathan in Abuja.
He said the meeting focused on the current state of the party, its challenges, and future opportunities, and the party sought Jonathan’s guidance and support.
Turaki added that Jonathan expressed gratitude toward the party, saying it had done all it could for him, and he still feels a strong sense of loyalty.
He described Jonathan’s words as encouraging, especially as the party prepares for off-season elections in Ekiti and Osun later this year, as well as the 2027 general election.
“We briefed him on the state of the party, the challenges, and the prospects. We, as usual, solicited his support, guidance, and advice,” he said.
“We received his assurance that he is still a card-carrying member of the Peoples Democratic Party, remains active, and will be even more active in the activities and affairs of the PDP.
“He also assured us that the PDP has done everything for him that can be done for an individual and that he still feels obligated to the party.
The meeting included several former governors, members of the party’s Board of Trustees, founding members, and state chairmen.
Meanwhile, many PDP members have called on Jonathan to contest the 2027 presidential election, following the party’s decision to zone its ticket to the south.
KanyiDaily recalls that Abdulrahman Mohammed recently assumed duty as the PDP Acting National Chairman.
