Security operatives reportedly tried to arrest former Kaduna state governor Nasir El-Rufai at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

El-Rufai’s spokesperson, Muyiwa Adekeye, who disclosed this on X, said the incident happened on Wednesday when the ex-governor arrived in Nigeria from Cairo, Egypt.
Adekeye said security operatives moved toward the former governor shortly after he got off the plane.
Adekeye added that El-Rufai refused to go with them because they did not present any official letter or formal notice requesting his presence.
Adekeye further alleged that the security personnel seized the former governor’s passport during the encounter.
“Security agents today attempted to arrest Malam Nasir El-Rufai as he arrived on a flight from Cairo. Malam El-Rufai declined to follow them without a formal invitation.”
“They, however, snatched his passport from an aide,” the post reads.
This comes barely 24 hours after Nasir El-Rufai claimed that he could soon be arrested by the Federal Government led by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
