Lagos Probes Death Of Elena Jessica Over Alleged BBL Complications

The Lagos State Government has ordered investigation into the death of Elena Jessica, who reportedly died after suffering serious complications following a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL).

KanyiDaily recalls that Elena Jessica’s death was first made public by her sister, Nelli, who shared the news on social media.

According to Nelli, the cosmetic surgery was carried out at Cynosure Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Hospital.

She claimed that the use of unsterilized medical equipment during the operation may have caused the infection that led to her sister’s death.

Nelli explained that Jessica had liposuction and fat transfer surgery on February 6, 2026

.

The procedure involved removing fat from parts of her body and transferring it to her hips, buttocks, and calves.

She said that about two days after the surgery, Jessica started experiencing severe pain and heavy swelling in the areas where the procedure was done.

Medical tests later showed that her white blood cell count was extremely high, which usually points to a serious infection.

She also reportedly had very low blood levels and needed several blood transfusions.

However, the hospital involved said Jessica had earlier undergone surgery at another medical facility and only came to their clinic for a corrective procedure.

Reacting to the situation, Abiola Idowu, the permanent secretary of the Health Facilities Monitoring and Accreditation Agency (HEFAMAA), confirmed that the agency has begun investigating the case.

Idowu said that although the clinic is registered with the agency, that status “does not shield any facility from investigation regarding patient’s safety”.

The Lagos State Government, through the Health Facilities Monitoring and Accreditation Agency (HEFAMAA), has commenced a full investigation into the reported death of a Lagos socialite popularly known as ‘Elena,’ who allegedly died after undergoing a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) cosmetic procedure at a clinic in the state,” the statement reads in part.

The development follows reports circulating on social media alleging that the young woman developed complications after the aesthetic procedure, which reportedly occurred either during or shortly after the surgery.

“While details of the incident are still being verified, the State Government has assured the public that a thorough, professional, and transparent investigation has been initiated to determine the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate event.”
