Power Minister Bayo Adelabu Apologises To Nigerians Over Poor Electricity Supply

The minister made this apology on Tuesday during a press briefing in Abuja, admitting that the situation has caused serious inconvenience for many people.

According to him, the current power problems have been made worse by the dry season, which has brought intense heat and affected businesses, schools, and industries.

Adelabu explained that while the situation is regrettable, some of the causes are beyond the government’s control.

“I want to apologise, coming from me as a minister of power, for this temporary issue that is leading to hardship being experienced.

“It is not our wish to find ourselves in this situation, but it is some factors that are actually beyond our control,” he said.

Despite the challenges, Adelabu said the government is still committed to improving electricity supply nationwide.

We are working on it 24-7 to make sure that we go back to the trajectory of 2025, whereby you praised us and commended us for a good job well done,” he said.

And we can imagine, if we could provide such service in 2025, this is 2026, when we will be willing to even do more and better, as we are close to the election year.”

However, he said the government “cannot help it, that’s why we find ourselves here”.

“But I can assure you that in the next few weeks, all this will be over, power generation will improve, distribution will improve, and that 6,000 MHz will be achieved before the end of this year, and Nigerians will be better for it,” Adelabu added.
