Tinubu Mourns Death Of Super Eagles Ex-Coach Adegboye Onigbinde

President Bola Tinubu has expressed sadness over the death of respected football administrator and former Super Eagles coach, Adegboye Onigbinde.

KanyiDaily recalls that Adegboye Onigbinde died on Monday at the age of 88, according to a statement by his family.

Onigbinde made history in 1982 when he became the first Nigerian to serve as head coach of the Super Eagles.

President Tinubu sent his condolences to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the National Sports Commission (NSC), as well as the late coach’s colleagues and football fans across the country.

Tinubu’s message was made public on Tuesday in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

In the statement, the President praised Onigbinde for his efforts in promoting grassroots football and helping to improve football administration in Nigeria.

He also highlighted Onigbinde’s role in leading the national team to the final of the 1984 Africa Cup of Nations.

According to him, the late coach will always be remembered for his discipline, integrity, vision, and deep love for football.

The President prayed for the peaceful rest of his soul and asked God to give strength and comfort to his family during this difficult time.
