Gunmen Kill Teacher, Abduct School Principal And Students In Oyo
The Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board has confirmed that a teacher was killed after gunmen attacked a secondary school in the Ahoro-Esinle community of Oriire Local Government Area.

The school principal and several students were also abducted during the incident on Friday morning at Community High School.
It was gathered that the incident caused fear and confusion in the area as parents and residents rushed to find out what had happened to their children and staff.
In a statement, the board’s executive chairman, Nureni Adeniran, described the attack as a heartbreaking loss for the education sector in the state.
He said the government and school community were deeply saddened by the killing of the teacher, adding that his service and dedication would be remembered.
“This is a dark and painful moment for our education family in Oyo State, and our hearts are with the affected parents, teachers and the entire community,” he said.
“We mourn with the family of the teacher whose life was tragically cut short. His service, dedication and sacrifice will never be forgotten.”
Eyewitnesses said the attackers arrived between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m., opened fire on a teacher, and then forced the school principal, identified as Rachael Alamu, and an unknown number of students into the bush before escaping through a nearby forest.
Ayanlade Olayinka, spokesperson of the Oyo state police command, confirmed the incident, saying officers had been deployed to the area to begin rescue efforts and gather more details.
Olayinka also said they were still working to confirm the exact number of students who were abducted during the invasion.
According to him, the Commissioner of Police has moved to the community with a tactical team to coordinate the response and assess the situation on ground.
He further urged residents to remain calm while security agencies continue efforts to rescue the kidnapped victims and investigate the attack.
