Nigerian superstar, Wizkid, has finally taken to social media to congratulate South African Disc Jockey, Black Coffee, and Beninese singer, Angelique Kidjo, for their win at the 2022 Grammy Awards.

KanyiDaily recalls that Wizkid’s ‘Made In Lagos’ bagged a Grammy nomination in the Best Global Music Album category, while his hit single ‘Essense’ was nominated for the Best Global Music Performance.

However, Wizkid lost both nominations as the Best Global Music Performance award was won by Arooj AftabMohabbat, while Angelique KidjoMother Nature, won the Best Global Music Album category.

Wizkid’s loss comes as a surprise to many people who had predicted a double win for the singer in both categories following the success of his hit single “Essence” and album “Made In Lagos”.

Wizkid’s manager, Pada Pollock had accused the Recording Academy committee of making judgments based on their personal opinions rather than facts.

British supermodel and actress, Naomi Campbell had also called out the Recording Academy, insisting that Wizkid deserved to win Grammy awards.

Wizkid Congratulates Angelique Kidjo, Black Coffee

Amid attacks by angry fans on Kidjo who felt Wizkid deserve the award, the Nigerian singer has taken to his Instagram Story to congratulate the Beninese singer and South African DJ for their Grammy wins.

He wrote, “Love to my brother a true King Black Coffee and Queen Angelique Kidjo for consistently shining light to the continent. African music rising.”

Meanwhile, Nigerian Afropop singer, Yemi Alade has revealed why Angelique Kidjo defeated Wizkid, Femi Kui, and his son, Made Kuti, at the 64th edition of the 2022 Grammy Awards.
