Burna Boy has won the Best International Act at the BET Awards 2020.

Popular Nigerian singer, Burna Boy has just been announced as the winner of Best International Act at BET Awards for the year 2020, making him the first Artist to win the award second time in a row.

KanyiDaily had reported that Burna Boy was nominated in this category alongside Innoss’B (DRC), Sho Madjozi (S.Africa), Dave (U.K), Stormzy (U.K), Ninho (France) and S.Pri Noir (France).

This year’s BET award ceremony was done almost entirely virtually due to the current covid-19 pandemic, and was hosted by comedian and actress, Amanda Seales, on Sunday, June 28, 2020.

Burna Boy’s award was presented to him virtually by supermodel, Naomi Campbell, who is a known lover of Afrobeats.

In his acceptance speech, Burna Boy thanked BET for the award and also talked about reversing the effects of colonialism in Africa.

“In order for Black Lives to Matter, Africa must Matter,” he said.
