Former Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, has been arrested for unsealing the Royal Spring Palm Hotels and Apartments seized by the state government.
Imo state government had on Friday sealed the property which belonged to Okorocha’s wife, Nneoma Nkechi, situated along Akachi road, Owerri.
On Sunday, Okorocha stormed the hotel with his entourage, demanding to be allowed in but the security personnel on the ground refused to open the gate.
The lawmaker representing Imo West Senatorial District was said to have told the security personnel guarding the place that there was no court order to back up the sealing of the building.
Hence, he insisted on entering the building, which he eventually did after he ordered his men to make way for him to enter the place and they forced the gates open.
It was learnt that Rochas’s men also allegedly destroyed vehicles parked at the premises and injured the security guards at the place.

Shortly after he forcefully gained access into the property, masked police operatives arrived and arrested Rochas along with some of his former political appointees, Steve Asunobi, lasbery Anyanwu and Ijeoma Igboanusi.
Confirming Okorocha’s arrest, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Orlando Ikeokwu, said the serving senator was arrested to explain the reason behind the unrest at Royal Spring Palm Estate.
“The command received a distress call regarding what we termed to be unrest at Royal Spring Palm Estate, and the operatives moved to the place. We discovered Okorocha led some persons to the place hitherto sealed by the Imo government.
“The command calmed the situation and invited Okorocha to come and explain why he led the violent breaking into the estate that led to damages,” Orlando said.
A photo being circulated on the social media showed the former governor sitting along a corridor of a building that looks like a police station.
