Unknown Gunmen Kidnaps Father Of Imo Former Deputy Governor, Eze Madumere

The father of a former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, has been kidnapped.

His Royal Highness (HRH) Eze Madumere, the father of former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen at Iho Community in Ikeduru Local Government Area of the state.

It was gathered that the 89-year-old traditional ruler of Ezi–Mbieri Autonomous Community in Mbaitoli Local Government Area was abducted on Friday morning, November 19.

An eyewitness said that the kidnappers ambushed the monarch on his way to a funeral before he was dragged out of his car and driven to an unknown destination after a sporadic shooting to scare people away.

This incident which is coming at a time when the south-east is experiencing an increase in criminal activities has sent panic and fear across the local government and entire state.

Confirming the incident, the ex-deputy governor, Prince Eze Madumere disclosed that his father’s abductors have contacted the family. But he did not give further details on the request for ransom.

The Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) Michael Abattam also confirmed the incident, stressing that they have put machinery in place so as to arrest the culprits.

KanyiDaily had also reported how unknown gunmen killed two traditional rulers during stakeholders’ meeting in Imo State.
