PDP Crisis: Wike Breaks Silence, Says Atiku Told Many Lies Against Him In His Interview
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has accused the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, of telling lies against him in an interview with a national television.
Wike Hit Back At Atiku
During a recent interview on Arise TV, Atiku had revealed why he picked Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, as his running mate instead of Wike.
According to Atiku, he opted for Okowa ahead of Wike because he wanted someone that could “deliver the policies of the party, and also try to unify the country”.
However, Atiku’s decision to name Okowa as his running mate instead of Wike whom the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) recommended for the position had created a rancour within the opposition party.
Speaking on Friday at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Wike said the interview Atiku granted on Arise TV was full of lies.
The governor said he will soon speak his own truth in reaction to the stance taking by Atiku and his men.
Wike said he had previously wanted to be quiet because PDP was a party that he loved so much.
He said, “I have decided to be quiet because PDP is a party I love so much. I have moved on to conclude my social contract with the people of Rivers. However, it is time to let Nigerians know the truth.”
“It’s important we set record straight when issues are raised and when speeches are made. After the primaries, you can imagine the kind of speech made by the PDP candidate during the unveiling of his running mate, no right thinking person or member won’t see it; Thereafter, he appeared on Arise Television, it was in the same line, see the statements he made.
“So many lies are being concocted; look at the statements issued by his attack dogs, Sule Lamido, others against me.
“It is important to announce that, Atiku has not been fair, I will react line by line to Atiku and his attack dogs; If a presidential candidate who believes he wants to win election is coming up to attack me, his strongest contender at the party.
“We must keep the records straight on the issues of PDP and the primaries, I will certainly speak. Nigerians will know, what went behind, I will speak, it has nothing to do with whether I like you or not, it is about setting the fact straight.”
KanyiDaily recalls that Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom had revealed that Atiku Abubakar reached out to him to pacify Governor Nyesom Wike over the PDP crisis.
