A supporter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sunday Akingbala has reportedly shot himself while celebrating the victory of Ademola Adeleke in the just concluded Osun governorship election.

KanyiDaily had reported that Adeleke, the governorship candidate of the PDP, was declared the winner of the Osun election on Sunday morning, July 17, 2020.

Adeleke secured 403,371 votes to defeat Governor Gboyega Oyetola, his closest challenger, who polled 375,027 votes on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Following the announcement of the election results, Sunday Akingbala, who is said to be a member of Amotekun, accidentally shot himself while celebrating Adeleke’s victory in Ile Ife on Sunday.

The man was taken to the Seventh Day Adventist Church hospital in Lagere, Ile Ife, but later referred to Obafemi Awolowo Teaching Hospital.
