Bandits have demanded N10m as ransom before releasing the lifeless body of their victim, Obadiah Ibrahim, who they abducted and killed in Kaduna State.
The deceased brother, Kefas Obadiah who disclosed this while speaking with Punch, said the bandits had collected over N3 million ransom earlier but refused to release the victim who was kidnapped in October 2022.
“Ibrahim had died on Monday, and they informed us on Thursday. We asked for his corpse, and they said we should pay them N10m if we want his corpse; they’ll not work for us free of charge,” he said.
Narrating the ordeal, he said, “My brother’s name is Obadiah Ibrahim. He was kidnapped early October, the first week of October, in Sabon Gaya on his way back from Abuja to Kaduna.
“They said we should bring the money. After we gave them the ransom, they told us the money was for their food supplies, which got finished, and that we should go and bring N15 million.
“They later came down to N5 million and three motorbikes, and later collected one bike. After they collected a bike, we didn’t hear from them again. We tried to communicate with them, but unfortunately we were unable to.
“Then, when the negotiator called them on Thursday, they said our brother was dead. We thought they were joking. When we continue, they threaten to track him and come for him if we do not stop calling their line.
“They said their own men were arrested by police, tied to a tree, and killed. So they also vent their anger on our brother because of what the police did to their brother.”
“The bandits also said ‘Allah’ (swearing in the name of God), if we brought the money, they’d release the corpse in three days.”
KanyiDaily recalls that bandits are also demanding a ransom of N40million to release 20 children who were abducted from Kusherki in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State.
