A 54-year-old man, Ojo Joseph has been arrested for allegedly setting ablaze five of his step-children over wife’s alleged denial of sεx at Fagun Crescent area of Ondo State.
It was gathered that the incident happened on Sunday morning when the suspect poured petrol into the room where the children were sleeping and set fire to it.
Joseph alleged that his wife, who is the mother of the five step-children, has been denying him sex for months.
Sources said the wife only gave birth to twins for the suspect, after her first failed marriage, which produced five children.i
His wife and their 18 month-old twins, who were also in the burning room set ablaze by the suspect, escaped from the inferno with minor injuries.
However, One of the step-children was burnt to death while four others suffered severe injuries and are receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo.
When contacted, Ondo police commands spokesperson, Funmi Odunlami, confirmed the heinous act, adding that the suspect had been arrested for a case of alleged arson and murder.
On the reason adduced by the suspect, Odunlami said that he alleged he had a misunderstanding with his wife.
The misunderstanding, according to Odunlami was yet to be explained to police detectives by the suspect.
She added that the suspect would soon be charged in court after a thorough investigation of the matter.
