Agba Jalingo Remanded In Jail For Cybercrime

Nigerian journalist and publisher, Agba Jalingo has been remanded in Kuje prison from Monday till Thursday.

It is understood that Jalingo has been on trial for treason.

Justice Zainab Bage Abubakar of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja remanded Agba Jalingo to Kuje prison for cybercrime.

According to reports, the judge allegedly denied Jalingo’s lawyers the opportunity to move a motion for bail after he was arraigned for cyberstalking.

The journalist was alleged to have defamed Elizabeth Ayade, the wife of Frank Ayade, who is a brother of Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade.

He was remanded to Kuje prison until Thursday.

Recall that the publisher of CrossRiverWatch was arrested on August 22, 2019, over a report alleging that Cross River State governor, Ben Ayade, diverted N500 million belonging to the state.

In other news, Kanyi Daily reported that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday, said it will conduct all outstanding governorship, National, and State Assembly supplementary elections on April 15.

This was disclosed by the Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi.
