Gombe State Police Present N18M To 25 Deceased Officers’ Families

Families and next of kin of deceased police officers, who died while in active service were on Monday, presented with cheques worth N18.5m by the Gombe State Police Command.

Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Oqua Etim, presented the cheques under Inspector General Usman Baba’s Family Welfare Scheme and Group Life Assurance to cushion the challenges of losing their benefactors.

According to Etim, no fewer than 25 families would benefit from the N18.5 million.

The Gombe state police commissioner said, “18.5m cheques will be disbursed to them. Things like this make us know that we will not be forgotten. It is a practice that says we remember our brothers and families.

“It is a time family of the deceased will know that their benefactors belonged to a caring organisation.

“Take it as an act of God, if God did not destine it, it wouldn’t have happened.”

In other news, Kanyi Daily reported that the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) on Monday, announced the approval of the R21 malaria vaccine manufactured by the Serum Institute of India.

NAFDAC Director General, Prof Mojisola Adeyeye disclosed this at a press conference in Abuja.

By this, Nigeria becomes the second country, after Ghana, to approve the new malaria vaccine developed at the University of Oxford.
