Shehu Sani Reacts To Kukah’s Call On Tinubu To Secure The Country

Sani in a tweet on his official handle, said Kukah pleased and displeased both sides and saved his neck.

Former Kaduna Senator, Shehu Sani has reacted to the call by the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto, Bishop Mathew Kukah, to the incoming administration of Bola Tinubu to address the security challenges in the country.

Kukah in his Easter message on Sunday in Sokoto urged Tinubu to address the situation and begin the healing process for the teeming Nigerian population.

“Keep us alive because only the living can enjoy infrastructure,” he said. “I am hopeful that you will appreciate that the most urgent task facing our nation is not infrastructure or the usual cheap talk about dividends of Democracy.”

In a contrary view however, the catholic cleric said Nigerians are frustrated by the outcome of the 2023 election and also believe that justice has eluded them.

Kukah described Nigerians as men and women returning from a funeral with forlorn looks.

“Nigerians are so collectively frustrated that it is almost impossible to convince them that they can find justice,” Kukah said.

“Everywhere you turn today, Nigerians look forlorn, disconsolate, lugubrious, and despondent. Our swagger is gone. We look like men and women returning from a funeral, murmuring discontentment in hushed tones. It is therefore not surprising that even the victors are blowing a muted trumpet.”

Reacting to the clergyman’s two-faced statement, Sani in a tweet on his official handle, said Kukah pleased and displeased both sides and saved his neck.

According to the former lawmaker, the “Lions and the Tigers” will be roaring but confused whether to devour Kukah or just pass and leave him.

Shehu Sani wrote, “Kukah said Nigerians are frustrated with the outcome of the election but called on the President-elect to secure the country.

“He pleased & displeased both sides & saved his neck.

“The Lions & the Tigers will be roaring but confused whether to devour him or just pass & leave him.”

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the February 25th presidential election.

Tinubu, INEC argued, won 12 out of Nigeria’s 36 States. He secured significant numbers in several other states to claim the highest number of votes — 8,794,726, almost two million votes more than his closest rival, Atiku, who got 6,984,520 votes, while Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) finished the race with 6,101,533.

There has, however, been an outcry by his fellow contestants and Nigerians alleging massive rigging and other forms of electoral malpractice at the polls.

In other news, Kanyi Daily reported that Peter Obi has mourned a former Judge of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), in the Hague, Netherlands, Bola Ajibola.
