Drama as bride’s relative steals dowry during wedding ceremony.

A wedding ceremony in the Kurna area of Dala Local Government Area in Kano State took an unexpected turn when the relative entrusted with the responsibility of giving away the bride, known as the waliyyi, was accused of stealing the dowry just before the wedding fatiha.

According to a report by Daily Trust, the incident left the attendees in a state of bewilderment as they awaited the commencement of the wedding proceedings, only to discover that the dowry was missing. Subsequently, a search was conducted among individuals present at the venue.

During the search, the stolen money was allegedly found in the pocket of the waliyyi, who professed innocence and claimed ignorance regarding how the money ended up in his possession.

Sunusi Dan Mamman, a resident of the area, provided an account of the events, stating, “On getting the money, the waliyyi was chased out of the mosque as he could not stand for the bride as her representative. His younger brother was assigned to stand for her, and the wedding proceeded as planned.”

The report does not provide clear information on whether the accused waliyyi was subsequently arrested or faced legal consequences for the alleged theft.
