Gunmen Abduct PDP Chieftain In Akwa Ibom

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State, Chief Eyo Edet has been kidnapped by suspected gunmen.

The PDP chieftain, popularly called Eyo Aswang was reportedly kidnapped on Monday.

He was abducted in his Filling Station, Eyotech Nigeria Limited, in the Oron Local Government area of the state.

According to reports, Edet who served as the Deputy Coordinator of PDP’s Divine Campaign Organisation in Oron at the last election was accosted by his abductors and whisked away in a Sienna car.

The reports also disclosed that his abductors drove their victims to a waiting speed boat and reportedly set ablaze the Sienna vehicle with which they came in.

No ransom has been demanded from the family by the abductors.

The police spokesman in the state, Odiko Macdon confirmed the incident and said the Commissioner of Police, CP Olatoye Durosinmi had visited the scene and ordered an investigation into the matter.

He said “We received the information, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olatoye Durosinmi visited the scene of the incident and went to the waterfront even the Sienna used to perpetuate the act has been recovered.
Investigations have commenced already and I’m sure the perpetrators will be brought to book in no distant time.”

In other news, Kanyi Daily reported that Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State in the early hours of Wednesday, demolished the multi-million naira roundabout located close to the Government House entrance.

Yusuf has since assuming office on May 29, embarked on massive demolition of structures in the state, which some political observers say, are targetted at the immediate past governor of the state, Abdullahi Ganduje.
