My Daughter Told Me I’ll Be Lucky To Meet Burna Boy, Rema In Nigeria – Bill Gates [Video]

American business magnate, Bill Gates has shared the reaction of his 20-year-old youngest daughter, Phoebe, after he told her about his upcoming visit to Nigeria.

During his address at an event in Lagos on Wednesday, Bill Gates revealed that Phoebe expressed her excitement about his trip and mentioned that he would be fortunate to see Nigerian Afrobeats stars, Burna Boy and Rema.

The billionaire, who had met with President Bola Tinubu alongside Aliko Dangote on Monday, highlighted the Gates Foundation’s commitment to collaborating closely with communities and leaders to foster innovation.

He said, “When my daughter Phoebe heard I was coming to Nigeria, she said, “You’re lucky because you get to see Burna Boy and Rema, so I had to look them up…because I’m so ‘hip’. But I remember the last time I was here, I got to see Davido & Wizkid perform.”

Gates emphasized the immense creative talent found in Nigeria and recognized the global popularity of Afrobeats music originating from the country.

He expressed his appreciation for the vibrant Nigerian music scene, stating, “Of course, being here in Nigeria, I can’t help but mention the amazing creativity that goes on here.

“Afrobeats from Nigeria are popular everywhere. When my daughter Phoebe heard I was coming to Nigeria, she said, ‘You’re lucky to go see Burna Boy and Rema,” he said.

The Microsoft co-founder quipped about having to look up the artists “because I’m so hip,” which generated laughs from the audience of young students and innovators.

Recalling his previous visit to Nigeria, Bill Gates also mentioned witnessing performances by Davido and Wizkid, expressing his admiration for their talent.

He added, “But I also remember, the last time I was here, I did get to see Davido and Wizkid perform and I was quite impressed with that. So, my kids think I’ve come to a very hip place.”
