Nigerian music going up, Ghanaian falling – Shatta Wale laments

Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., alias Shatta Wale, a Ghanaian dancehall artist, has lamented the status of his country’s music business.

He bemoaned the fact that Nigerian music was advancing while Ghanaian music was declining.

The self-proclaimed ‘King of African Dancehall’ stated that Ghanaian musicians can no longer compete with their Nigerian colleagues, despite the massive growing disparity between the two music businesses in recent years.

On his X handle, Shatta Wale wrote: “Naija music going up
Going up
Going up
Naija music going up.

“You can’t fight them.

“Ghana music falling down
Falling down
Falling down
Ghana music falling down.”

Kanyidaily recalls that Shatta Wale hailed Burna Boy despite their feud and it has generated mixed reactions.
