Lagos State Police Command has arrested 21-year-old woman, Precious Anegbode for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend, Damilola, to death in Ijegun, Lagos.
According to Punch, the incident happened last Friday after Anegbode visited Damilola’s home.
An argument reportedly broke out between them and escalated into a violent altercation.
A resident who spoke anonymously said neighbors heard loud shouting from the room.
Moments later, Anegbode was heard crying, prompting people to rush in. They found Damilola lying motionless on the floor.
“We don’t know what led to the quarrel between both of them. We only heard them shouting and the next thing we heard the lady was wailing. When we got to their room, we saw the lifeless body of her boyfriend on the floor,” the source disclosed.
“Some of the neighbours took the corpse to the hospital while others prevented the lady from running away. When they got to the hospital, the doctors on duty confirmed him dead.
“Then we later went to the police station to report the incident, and returned with some officers who came to take the lady away,” the resident added.
Police spokesperson CSP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the case, stating that the incident was reported at around 11:30 a.m. that day.
Damilola’s body was taken to Igando General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Hundeyin said the investigation revealed that the incident took place outside the original police jurisdiction, and the case was handed over to Isheri Oshun division.
Police teams visited the scene, recovered the knife used in the attack, and documented blood stains and other evidence.
He added that Anegbode confessed under caution and the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti, Yaba, for further investigation.
He said, “The victim was rushed to Igando General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead on arrival. The nearest police station, Igando Division, was contacted, and the suspect was arrested.
“Further investigation revealed that the incident occurred in another area of responsibility, and the case was referred to Isheri Oshun. Patrol and DCB teams were mobilised, and the suspect was detained at the Igando Division. The victim’s corpse was deposited at the Igando General Hospital mortuary.”
He added, “Photographs were taken, and the scene of the incident was visited. The knife used in the stabbing was recovered, and blood stains at the scene were documented. The suspect made confessional statements under caution.
