Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old woman, Rabi’a Labaran, for allegedly stabbing her co-wife, 30-year-old Zainab Lawal, to death after a heated argument turned violent in Daura town.

The tragic incident happened on the night of May 24, 2025, near Dadi Primary School in the Sabon Gari area of Daura, in the northern part of Katsina State.
In a statement on Sunday, the police spokesperson, Abubakar Sadiq, said the altercation between the two women escalated into a deadly fight.
He said that after the incident, their husband, Nasir Yusuf, reported to the Sabon Gari Police Division that he came home from the market and found his first wife, Zainab, lying in a pool of blood after being stabbed several times.
Officers responded quickly, and the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) led a team to the scene, and Zainab was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Daura, but doctors confirmed she was already dead.
During the investigation, police arrested Rabi’a Labaran, who lived at the same address.
She admitted to stabbing her co-wife, explaining that a disagreement between them led to a fight which ended fatally.
Sadiq said an investigation is still ongoing.
Meanwhile, the state’s Commissioner of Police, Bello Shehu, has called on the public to avoid domestic violence and not to take matters into their own hands.
He advised people to seek lawful ways to resolve disputes, warning that taking justice into one’s hands only causes more harm and weakens the justice system.
KanyiDaily recalls that a woman identified as Zaliha Shuaibu was also arrested for allegedly killing her co-wife’s three-month-old baby boy in Kaduna State.
