NELFUND Opens Student Loan Application Portal For 2025/2026 Academic Session

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced that its online portal for student loan applications is now open for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The announcement was made in a statement shared on NELFUND’s official X page on Tuesday titled “NELFUND Announces Opening of Student Loan Application Portal for 2025/2026 Academic Session.”

The platform will enable eligible students to apply for financial aid to support their studies, and the application period runs from Thursday, October 23, 2025, to Saturday, January 31, 2026.

NELFUND thanked tertiary institutions nationwide for their cooperation and urged them to continue working with the agency to ensure a smooth and fair loan process for all qualified applicants.

The agency also instructed all accredited tertiary institutions to update and upload verified information of both returning and newly admitted students on the NELFUND Student Verification Portal, stressing that this step is essential for applicants to qualify for the loan scheme.

For new students, NELFUND said applications can be submitted using either their Admission Number or JAMB Registration Number if a Matriculation Number has not yet been assigned.

“Institutional Institutions are encouraged to show understanding in enforcing registration and fee Flexibility payment deadlines for students awaiting loan disbursement

“Institutions that have not yet commenced their 2025/2026 academic session should Special Notice formally write to NELFUND with their approved academic calendar for scheduling flexibility

“NELFUND appeals to all institutions to consider temporary registration measures for students whose loan applications are being processed to ensure that no student loses access to education due to financial constraints,” the statement added.

For inquiries or technical support, students and institutions can contact NELFUND through its official communication channels or its verified social media pages on X, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

KanyiDaily recalls that the NELFUND recently dismissed reports suggesting that it mismanaged or diverted money meant for student loans.
