Media personality Daddy Freeze has defended content creator Peller amid the ongoing debate surrounding “olodo ulture.”

Daddy Freeze said Peller he should not be blamed for the decline in education standards in Nigeria.

The debate started after rapper Ycee criticised Peller, arguing that Nigerians now celebrate viral online content more than education and intelligence.

He described the trend as an “Olodo Uprising,” stressing that academic excellence is no longer valued.

Responding to the criticism, Daddy Freeze said Peller simply made the most of an already broken system and should not be held responsible for the country’s education problems.

Yes, we have an Olodo culture in Nigeria. But I find it unfair to put the blame on Peller, who is an intelligent young man that took advantage of a broken system. He didn’t break the system,” he said.

Daddy Freeze also blamed Nigeria’s poor reward system for making education less appealing.

He noted that many highly educated professionals receive salaries that do not match their qualifications or the importance of their work.

To support his point, he revealed how a professor of paediatric cardiology who, earns less than ₦700,000 each month despite teaching complex heart surgery for children.

He argued that earning a degree no longer guarantees a comfortable middle-class life, making many young people lose interest in pursuing higher education.

Daddy Freeze further questioned the country’s priorities by comparing the ₦100 million prize awarded to the winner of Big Brother Naija with the much smaller rewards often given to the best graduating students.

His comments have generated mixed reactions on social media, with many people debating whether Nigeria’s weak reward system is the real reason education is losing its value.
