Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has defended his love for dancing, saying it has never affected his ability to perform his duties as governor.

Dancing Doesn’t Affect My Performance As Osun Governor - Adeleke

Adeleke spoke on Tuesday during a town hall meeting organised by Arise News in Osogbo, ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

The governor, who is seeking another term under the Accord Party, said dancing is part of his personality and a tradition in his family.

He maintained that he remains focused on governing the state and delivering projects across different sectors

Responding to criticism that his frequent dancing makes him appear less serious, Adeleke said he can enjoy his personal interests while still carrying out his responsibilities as a public official.

“I repeat, nobody will stop me from dancing. I dance because in my family, we are jolly good fellows. As I am dancing, I am working, and I’m a very serious person,” he said.

Adeleke said there is a proper time for everything, including work and relaxation.

There is time for everything, there is time to dance, and there is time to work. Dancing does not stop me from working. I have delivered across all sectors,” he said.

The governor also responded humorously to his critics, suggesting that some people may simply be unhappy because they cannot dance as well as he does.

And there is time to work. So they are jealous. Because they cannot dance. If they want, I will teach them how to dance. But that does not stop my work,” he added.

Adeleke is seeking re-election against candidates including Munirudeen Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and Olajide Esan of the African Action Congress (AAC).
